Description

For sale: a Rare and Exceptional 25th Anniversary Edition, First Printing hardcover copy of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak in a new archival wrap. Twenty-fifth Anniversary Edition stated but undated, with 1963 as the latest year on the copyright page. Harper Collins. First Printing with no subsequent printing.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright boards, clean end papers, tight binding, no spine tilt, lightly rubbed spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with the previous owner’s lengthy gift inscription on the reverse side of the FEP – across from the half title page. No other marks inside. The illustrated end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The unclipped dust jacket is in Very Good condition with heavy edge wear, chipping, two 1/4″ inch tears and light damage from the removal of a price tag. The Caldecott medallion is creased – from an apparent attempt to remove it.  Looks good in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Maurice Sendak’s Caldecott Medal-winning picture book has become one of the most highly acclaimed and best-loved children’s books of all time. Where the Wild Things Are has inspired a movie, an opera, and the imagination of generations.
