The exterior of this softcover Uncorrected Proof is in Near Fine condition, with clean, illustrated covers with no creases, mild surface wear, strong title on a square spine, clean page blocks, a tight binding with no creases, lightly rubbed spine ends, mild edge wear and lightly rounded corners. The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The inside covers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

Exacting yet unpredictable, pithy yet complex, Coetzee’s The Pole tells the story of Wittold Walccyzkiecz, a vigorous, extravagantly white-haired pianist and interpreter of Chopin who becomes infatuated with Beatriz, a stylish patron of the arts, after she helps organize his concert in Barcelona. Although Beatriz, a married woman, is initially unimpressed by Wittold and his “gleaming dentures,” she soon finds herself pursued and ineluctably swept into his world.

Ships promptly in a clasp envelope with the book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
