For sale: a rare and exceptional first hardcover College Edition, early printing of The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Edition unstated, 1952 Scribner with no colophon. Fifth Printing E-12-63 [H] print code, December 1963.

The book is in Very Good condition with light blue boards with light fading at edges, strong title gilt on the lightly sunned spine, front facsimile signature, and design on the front and the College Edition imprint on the rear. Also with, Staining on the bottom page blocks, tight binding, no spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and bumped and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with no marks or inscriptions inside. The interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with a sunned spine, mild edge wear, and the $4.95 price on the front flap and ISBN 684-10245-5 on the rear flap.  Looks attractive in a new Brodart archival wrap.
