For sale: a Rare and Exceptional tri-fold hardcover edition, first printing of McSweeney’s Issue 24 by Donald Barthelme, Ann Beattie, David Gates, and Oscar Hijuelos and others. First Edition unstated, 2007 McSweeney’s Books. First Printing with no subsequent printing.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, illustrated boards with a z-fold design, strong title ink on both straight spines, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, strong spine ends, mild edge wear and lightly rounded corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright. Includes the 48 page insert and the rear sticker.

With a special section on Donald Barthelme, including remembrances from Ann Beattie, David Gates, and Oscar Hijuelos, and some of Barthelme’s barely published and never-collected early work, and a highly theoretical but potentially amazing Z-binding that we can’t describe very well here, or even to each other, McSweeney’s 24 will never be mistaken for anything else. (Except possibly the June 1978 issue of Popular Mechanics.)
