The exterior of the paperback edition is in Very Good condition, with clean, The interior of the book is in Very Good condition with the previous owner’s crossed out name on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership inside. The inside rear cover and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
The Hostage is set in a disreputable Dublin lodging house peopled by a strange gallery of I.R.A. men, religious eccentrics, prostitutes, and perverts. In the house appears a young Cockney soldier, held as a hostage in reprisal for an I.R.A. man who was to be hanged in the morning.
