For sale: a Rare and Exceptional  First hardcover Edition, First Printing of A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway with no dust jacket. First Edition unstated, 1929 Scribner. First Printing with all the points: 1929 on both title and copyright pages, the publisher’s seal on the copyright page and the absence of a legal disclaimer on the verso of the dedication page.

The book is in Good condition with bright boards with some sheen and heavy wear due to many years without the dust jacket. The boards are straight, but the edges and corners are worn through completely, as is a 1/2″ x 2″ missing section from the bottom of the front board. The gold paper label on the front is intact and in good shape with both the author and title legible, but the spine label is missing. The bottom spine end is completely folded under, while the top is heavily frayed. Inside the pages are evenly toned. There are signatures on the first free end paper. The rear hinge is cracked, but the front one is intact.

No dust jacket.
