For sale: a rare first First Everyman’s Library edition, later printing hardcover copy of Emma by Jane Austen. First Everyman’s Library Edition described, 1991 Knopf. Tenth Printing stated.
The exterior of the book is in Near Fine condition with spotless, cloth boards, strong title gilt on a convex spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, strong spine ends, mild edge wear, and two rounded corners. The interior of the book is in Very Good condition with a damp stain on the last free end paper and the last 100 pages of the text has light puckering at the page corners. Also with the name of the previous owner and their small ink bookstamp on the first paste down, discretely place beneath the front flap. Also the ghost of an erased price on the first free end paper. The ribbon has been moved and is frayed.
The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with some smudges on the back, mild edge wear, and the price on the front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.
Ships promptly in a corrugated mailer with the book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
