For sale: a rare and exceptional revised hardcover edition, second printing of Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Verlaine: Selected Verse and Prose Poems by Charles Baudelaire, Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine. Revised Edition stated, 1947 Citadel Press. First Printing with no further printing.  Edited with an introduction by Joseph M. Bernstein.

The book is in Very Good condition with clean, cloth boards with a strong sheen, strong title gilt on a straight spine. The top spine end is heavily worn with a 1/2″ tear and the bottom is rolled and worn. Also with, lightly foxed page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and two lightly bumped corners. The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with light foxing on both end papers. No other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership. The interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Poor condition with mild surface wear, heavy edge wear, chips, tears and gaps; and the price on the front flap. Looks great in an archival wrap.

Here, for the first time, the work of three of France’s greatest poets has been published in a single Arthur Symons’ unabridged translation of “Flowers of Evil” and the Prose Poems of Baudelaire; Louise Varese’s translation of Rimbaud’s “A Season in Hell” and Prose Poems from “Illuminations”; J. Norman Cameron’s translation of the verse from the “Illuminations”; and a representative selection from Verlaine’s verse translated by Gertrude Hall and Arthur Symons.
