Description

For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first hardcover edition, first printing  of A Wild Sheep Chase: A Novel by Haruki Murakami. First Edition stated, 1989 Kodansha. First Printing without any subsequent printing on the copyright page.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright boards, strong title ink on a straight spine and a 2″ x 1″ damp stain to the rear paste-down which is covered by the dust jacket. Also of note: there is a small ink stamp on the rear end paper that states: “Quality Printing and Binding By:/ Kodansha International/ 114 Fifth Avenue/ New York, NY 10011 USA.” This was placed by the publisher not a bookseller, so it is probably unique to the first print run.  Also with clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and two bumped corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition without any other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild edge wear. First state jacket with the $18.95 price on the front flap looks great in a new archival wrap.

Features a cast of bizarre characters, including a sheep with a mysterious star on its back, caught up in a Nietzschean quest for power
