For sale: a Rare and Exceptional second paperback edition, first printing of The Way of Zen by Alan Watts. First Paperback Edition unstated, 1957 Vintage Books. First  Printing with no subsequent printing and a $1.95 cover price.

The exterior of this paperback edition is in Very Good condition, with toned covers with three creases, a small tear on the back, foxed page blocks, mild surface wear, strong title on the spine, a tight binding with multiple spine cracks, rubbed spine ends, mild edge wear and rounded corners. The interior of the book is only in Good condition with underlining and notes in ink. The inside covers are foxed, the front end paper has multiple notes written in ink  and the interior pages are  toned.

Since the first publication of this book in 1957, Zen Buddhism has become firmly established in the West. As Zen has taken root in Western soil, it has incorporated much of the attitude and approach set forth by Watts in The Way of Zen, which remains one of the most important introductory books in Western Zen.
