For sale: a Rare and Exceptional Uniform edition, early printing hardcover copy of The Wandering Jew by Eugène Sue with no dust jackets. Uniform Edition stated, 2006 ‎ George Routledge.  No printing info.

Both volumes are in Very Good condition with cloth quarter wrap boards with wrapped corners on the decorative paper boards. The clean and bright spines have strong title and author gilt. The top page block has strong gilt, while the bottom and side edges are lightly toned. Also with, tight bindings, mild spine tilts, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rounded corners.

The interior of the books are in Very Good condition with paper bookplates on the front paste downs. The tissue protecting the frontispiece is heavily foxed as is the facing title page.  No other marks, inscriptions or signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The Wandering Jew is an 1844 novel by the French writer Eugène Sue. It tells the story of the descendants of a persecuted Huguenot whose fortune had been entrusted to a Jewish banker for 150 years. Scattered across the globe, they have inherited medals instructing them to reunite in Paris on 13 February 1832 to claim the fortune. While the Jesuit Order manipulates events and places obstacles in their paths, they are protected by the Wandering Jew and his sister, who are cursed to ensure the family’s survival
