For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first edition, early printing hardcover copy of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. First Edition described by Published September 1911, with the Charles Scribner’s colophon on the copyright page and no later dates. Early Printing with 1924 on title page. Illustrated by N. C. Wyeth.
The book is in Good condition with faded boards with mild soiling, chips and scratches to the front illustration. Also with, strong title gilt on a sunned spine, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled and rubbed spine ends, moderate to heavy edge wear, and rubbed corners with bare spots. The interior of the book is in Good condition with rough cut pages with gaps and missing side pieces on the Contents and Illustrations pages. Some pages, including the title page have heavy foxing, but most pages are strong and evenly toned. The illustrated end papers are lightly faded and unmarked. The front and rear gutters are strong, and the book is sturdy with toned pages. Six of eight full page illustrations are clean and two have heavy foxing and age spots: opposite pages 76 and 139. No other marks, inscriptions or other signs of ownership inside.
