Description

For sale: a Rare and Exceptional  Leather Bound Collector’s Edition of The Tragedies Of William Shakespeare by William Shakespeare. Easton Press, 1980. Newer printing bound in genuine leather with gilt accents, 22kt gold page edges and a hubbed spine. Smyth sewn, interior with moire end papers, acid-neutral paper (won’t yellow or become brittle over time) and a silk ribbon page marker. Illustrated by John Farleigh.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright boards with strong gilt accents, lightly foxed gilt page blocks, no spine tilt, strong spine ends, mild  edge wear and strong corners. Previous owner’s bookplate is on the front paste down, with the name crossed out with marker and a bit of ink transfer onto the silk first free end paper. The rear silk moire paste downs are otherwise clean. No other marks or inscriptions inside. Ribbon appears to be moved from original position.  Pages clean with bright.

No dust jacket, as issued.

The Tragedies, contain some of Shakespeare’s most recognized – and produced-  dramatic work of the highest order.

This volume contains Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus, Cymbeline, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Lear, Macbeth, Othello, Pericles, Romeo and Juliet, Timon of Athens, Titus Andronicus, and Troilus and Cressida.
