For sale: a rare and exceptional first hardcover trilogy of The Divine Comedy – All Three Volumes (Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso) by Allen Mandelbaum. 1983 undated Book of the Month Club (BOMC). Illustrated by Barry Moser. No slipcase, as issued.
All three volumes are in Near Fine condition with clean boards, strong title gilt on straight spines, clean page blocks, tight bindings, no spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and strong corners. The interiors of the books are also in Near Fine condition with blind stamps on the second free end paper, and no other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright.
The dust jacket for Purgatorio is in Near Fine condition with a small hole in the spine and mild edge wear. The dust jacket for Paradiso is in Near Fine condition with mild surface wear and one tear. The dust jacket for Inferno is in Very Good condition with mild surface wear and heavy edge wear, and several tears. All three jackets have no price on the front flap and no BOMC imprints except the logo on the spine. and ook great in new Brodart archival wraps.
