Description

For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Tevye’s Daughters by Sholom Aleichem a new archival wrap. Edition unstated, 1949 Crown. Presumed Second Edition circa 1965, with Fiddler on the Roof mentioned on front cover.  First Printing with no subsequent printing listed on copyright page. Frances Butwin (Translator).

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright boards, strong title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and rounded corners. The interior of the book is in also Near Fine condition with one small stain on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The rear end paper and the interior pages are very clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Good condition with mild surface wear and heavy edge wear, 1/2″ gaps on the spine ends and no price on the front flap as issued. Clean front graphic looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Russian-born American humorist Sholom Aleichem, originally Solomon Rabinowitz, in Yiddish originally wrote stories and plays, that are the basis for the musical Fiddler on the Roof.

Ships promptly in a corrugated mailer with book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
