For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first edition, second printing paperback copy of A Stein Reader by Gertrude Stein. First Edition unstated, 1993 Northwestern University Press. Second paperback printing 1996 stated.

The exterior of this paperback edition is in Near Fine condition, with clean, bright covers with one partial crease, some smudges on page blocks, mild surface wear, strong title on an un-cracked spine, a tight binding with no spine cracks, strong spine ends, mild edge wear and one lightly rounded corner.

The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price on the first free end paper and reader notes on the last free end paper and inside cover. No other marks, inscriptions, underlining, or other signs of ownership inside. The interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

A Stein Reader includes unpublished work, such as the portrait “Article”; shows the astonishing stylistic change in the neglected “A Long Gay Book”; draws attention to the many unknown plays such as “Reread Another;” and offers fascinating portraits of Matisse, Picasso, and Sitwell.
