The exterior of the paperback edition is in Near Fine condition, with clean, The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership inside. The rear end paper and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection. Appears unread.
Written in 1959 and premiered at the Royal Court Theatre (RCT) on October 22 of that year. In Arden’s introductory note to the text, he describes it as “a realistic, but not a naturalistic” play. The work follows three privates in the British Army and their sergeant, all of whom are deserters from a foreign imperialist war.
