The book is in Very Good condition with clean, bright boards with the pattern present on the undecorated rear board and strong gilt on the front. Also with, strong title gilt on a lightly sunned spine, lightly faded top gilt, deckled edges on page blocks with mild compressions on bottom. Also, a tight binding, mild spine tilt, rubbed and frayed, moderate edge wear, and rounded corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with no marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám (Persian: رباعیات عمر خیام) is the title that Edward FitzGerald gave to his translation of a selection of poems, originally written in Persian and numbering about a thousand, attributed to Omar Khayyám (1048–1131), a Persian poet, mathematician and astronomer. A ruba’i is a two-line stanza with two parts (or hemistichs) per line, hence the word rubáiyát (derived from the Arabic language root for “four”), meaning “quatrains”.
