For sale: a Very Rare and Exceptional first hardcover edition, first printing of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard in a new  archival wrap. First Edition stated, 1967 Grove Press with ISBN number. Second Printing 1978 stated.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, cloth boards, strong title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, no spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed and rounded corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the previous owner’s name and year on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions or signs of ownership. The interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with the $10.00 price on the front flap, mild surface wear, and heavy edge wear chips and gaps. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

In this witty, erudite comedy, the author has had the brilliant idea of taking two of Shakespeare’s classic nonentities – Hamlet’s school friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern – and elevating them to the center of dramatic action.
