For sale: a rare and exceptional first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Piers Plowman or Visio Willelmi de Petro Ploughman by William Langland. First Edition stated, 1971 by Random House. First Printing with a number line starting at 2 immediately above the First Edition statement, as per the publisher. Translated by Margaret Williams.

The book is in Near Fine condition with with clean, bright boards, clean page blocks, mild spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear and one lightly bumped corner. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions or signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild surface wear, moderate edge wear and the price on the front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Piers Plowman or Visio Willelmi de Petro Ploughman is a Middle English allegorical narrative poem by William Langland. It is written in un-rhymed, alliterative verse divided into sections called passus.
