For sale: a Rare and Exceptional early illustrated edition, later printing hardcover copy of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens by J. M. Barrie with no dust jacket.  Edition unstated, 1906 Scribner’s. Later Printing with 1935 on the title page and the Scribner’s colophon and no subsequent printing on the copyright page.  Illustrated by Arthur Rackham.

The book is in Very Good condition with bright boards with a few marks and a strong title on a straight spine. Also, a few spots on the page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Very Good condition with the ghost of an erased price on the unevenly toned first free end paper. The frontispiece is intact, and the other fifteen full page Arthur Rackham color prints are clean and strong with no tissue guards as issued. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The rear end paper is also unevenly toned and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens by J.M. Barrie tells the story of how Peter left his family as an infant, became a friend of fairies, and (re)learned to fly. The first US Edition with drawings by Arthur Rackham was published in 1906 with 50 illustrations and 16 plates in this abridged version.
