Description

For sale is a  Very Good signed hardcover edition, early printing of Omeros by Derek Walcott. First Edition stated, 1990 Farrar, Straus & Giroux. Sixth Printing 1993 also stated.

The exterior of the book is in Near Fine condition, with bright boards with a few small spots and a dent, strong title gilt, a few marks on foxed page blocks, a tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear and lightly rubbed corners. Signed by Derek Walcott on the Special Edition page with no inscription. The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with with an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The rear end paper and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection. (Includes a letter from the BU president.)

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with no price on the front flap, 0890 date code on rear flap, and mild surface and edge wear. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Omeros is the grand epic poem told in multiple chapters from Nobel Prize-winning poet and playwright Derek Walcott. This Special Edition was the gift from the Boston University English Dept.to their 1993 graduating Seniors. The student copies were inscribed personally by Nobel Laureate Walcott who was a Professor at Boston University at the time. A few other copies were left signed with no inscription.
