Description

For sale: a rare and exceptional First Edition, second printing of The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. First Edition unstated, 1952 Scribner. Second Printing with the Scribner colophon but without the letter A.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, lightly faded boards, strong title ink on the spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rounded corners. The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with binding stains on the first front paste down. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The  interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with rubbed spine seams, heavy edge wear, and the $3.00 price on the front flap.  Looks attractive in a new Brodart archival wrap.
