For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first paperback edition, first printing of Munch by David Loshak.  First Paperback Edition described, 2001 PRC Publishers. First Printing with no subsequent printing. Color plates of artwork and black and white photos and prints. 112 pages. 14.25 x 10.25 x 0.5.
The exterior of the paperback edition is in Near Fine condition, with clean, bright covers with no creases, mild surface wear, strong title on a square spine, clean page blocks, a tight binding with no creases, lightly rubbed spine ends, mild edge wear and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with no marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership inside. The inside covers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

In a lengthy introduction illustrated with photographs of the artist at work, and prints and paintings by Munch and artists who influenced him in his early years, the author tells the story of Munch’s artistic development in the light of his unsettled childhood, overshadowed by the death of his mother and is followed by a selection of 60 of Munch’s paintings and prints. Each is illustrated in large-scale full color with an accompanying text which explains the subject matter, symbolism and pictorial devices of each work.
