For sale is a rare and exceptional first edition, first printing of Flush: A Biography by Virginia Woolf, with no dust jacket. First Edition stated, 1976 Harcourt Brace. First Printing with full letter line, B C D E, as per publisher. Edited by Jeanne Schulkind.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright boards with mild toning at edges, strong title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, no spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price on the half title page. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild surface and edge wear and a 1/2″ tear mended with acid-free tape. First state jacket with the $8.95 price on the front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Virginia Woolf’s only autobiographical writing is to be found in this collection of five unpublished pieces. The author’s own account of her early life holds new fascination for its unexpected detail, the strength of its emotion, and its clear-sighted judgment of Victorian values.
