For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first THUS edition, first printing paperback copy of The Lurker at the Threshold by H. P. Lovecraft and August Derleth. First trade paperback edition stated, 2003 Carrol and Graf in their Running Press imprint.  Fourth Printing with partial number line reversed, 9 8 7 6 5 4.

The exterior of this paperback edition is in Very Good condition, with clean covers with no creases, clean page blocks, mild surface wear, strong title on an un-cracked spine, a tight binding with no spine cracks, rubbed spine ends, heavy edge wear and rounded corners. The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with the ghost of an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The inside covers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The Lurker at the Threshold is a horror novel by American writer August Derleth, based on short fragments written by H. P. Lovecraft, who died in 1937, and published as a collaboration between the two authors. According to S. T. Joshi, of the novel’s 50,000 words, 1,200 were written by Lovecraft.
