Description

For sale: a rare, first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace with moderate to heavy water damage. First Edition stated, 1996 Little Brown. First Printing with full number line and all first issue points.

The book is in Very Good condition with bright boards with a damp stain on the back and a few spots on the front. Also with, strong silver title gilt on the spine, clean page blocks, binding starting to pull away at the top, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and  bumped corners.  The interior of the book is in Good condition with a large damp stain on the rear paste down and the top edge of the last 100 pages. Those same pages have mild puckering at the tops. No other marks or inscriptions. The front  end paper and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it a nice addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with moderate signs of wear, making it a great example of this highly sought-after first edition that looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap. The jacket is a first state with the $29.95 price intact on the front flap, and  Vollmann’s name misspelled on the back.

Equal parts philosophical quest and screwball comedy, Infinite Jest bends every rule of fiction without sacrificing for a moment its own entertainment value. It is an exuberant, uniquely American exploration of the passions that make us human – and one of those rare books that renew the idea of what a novel can do.

Ships promptly in a corrugated mailer with the book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
