For sale: a Rare and Exceptional Book Club edition hardcover copy of Hiroshima by John Hersey. Book Club Edition unstated, 1946 Knopf on copyright page with 1946 on the title page, as well. No Book Club Edition (BCE) statements or gutter code, but there is a small dimple on the rear board.

The exterior of the book is in Very Good+ condition with strong, bright boards with mild rubbing, strong title gilt on the front board, and the lightly sunned spine. The spine ends are rolled with heavy wear and no fraying. Also with clean page blocks, a strong binding, mild spine tilt, moderate edge wear, and rubbed and rounded corners with no bare spots. The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with the ghost of an erased price on the half title page. No other marks, inscriptions or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and paste downs are clean with strong gutters. The interior pages are clean and moderately toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Good condition with moderate surface wear, heavy edge wear and tears, chips and gaps.  The bottom 1-1/2″ piece of the spine is missing, but the front cover is mostly intact. Looks good in a new Brodart archival wrap. Ships promptly in a manila envelope with the book wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap.

Hiroshima is a 1946 book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author John Hersey. It tells the stories of six survivors of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. It regarded as one of the earliest examples of the New Journalism, in which the story-telling techniques of fiction are adapted to non-fiction reporting.

Small volume ships promptly in a manila envelope with the book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
