Green Hills of Africa – Ernest Hemingway

For sale: a rare and exceptional revised edition, first printing of Green Hills of Africa by Ernest Hemingway in a new archival wrap.   Second Scribner hardcover edition described as Reprinted 1954 Scribner. Presumed First Printing with 1953 on title page and no subsequent printing or number line, on the copyright page.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright, cloth boards with a strong sheen, strong title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with the previous owner’s name, date and bookplate on the half title page and an erased price on the first free end paper.  There are two light  smudges on the title and dedication pages and no other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The dust jacket is in Good condition with a 1/2″ triangular gap on the stained spine, moderate surface and edge wear, and the $3.00 price on the front flap. Jacket design by Johanna Troyer looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.
