Description

For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first New Classics Edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee  Williams. First New Classics Edition stated, 1949 New Directions. First Printing, with no subsequent printing.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright boards, strong title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, moderate edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price and a few spots on the first free end paper and uneven toning to both paste downs. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild surface and edge wear. Later jacket with the striking cover design by Alvin Lustig. $2.50 price on the front flap and the NC23 catalog number on the spine. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Small volume (7 x 5 x 0.5″) ships promptly in a corrugated mailer with book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
