For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first US edition first printing hardcover copy of The Fruits of the Earth (Les Nourritures Terrestres & Les Nouvlles Nourritures) by André Gide. First
The exterior of the book is in Very Good condition with clean, bright boards with a bit of sheen, and strong title gilt on the lightly sunned spine. There is also a clean top page block, the side deckle edges are unmarked and the bottom block shows mild compression. Also featured is a strong binding, no spine tilt, moderate to heavy edge wear, and rubbed corners with no bare spots.
The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with the the previous owner’s crossed out initials and 2/60 written below them on the front paste down and the previous owner’s four lines of notes on the rear free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and paste downs are clean with strong gutters. The interior pages are clean and moderately toned making it an excellent addition to any collection.
