For sale: a Rare and Exceptional facsimile first edition first printing hardcover copy of For Whom the Bells Toll by Ernest Hemingway with no dust jacket and no slipcase. First Edition Library (FEL) facsimile of the first edition, 1940 Scribner and a boxed FEL reprint statement on the copyright page as the only difference from the true first edition with 1940 on both title and copyright pages and the letter A on the copyright page. Includes the publisher’s card from FEL.

The book exterior is inĀ  Near Fine condition with bright beige boards with the cloth pattern free of wear and Hemingway’s facsimile signature on the front cover. The book has lightly toned page blocks, no spine tilt, strongĀ  spine ends, mild edge wear and strong corners. The black ink of the Hemingway name and title and the red background are bright and strong. The interior of the book is also in Near Finer condition with the ghost of an erased price on the lightly toned first free endpaper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The rear end paper and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection. Looks great on a shelf.
