For sale: a Rare and Exceptional Book Club Edition of Fool for Love & The Sad Lament of Pecos Bill on the Eve of Killing His Wife by Sam Shepard. City Lights Books, 1983. Presumed first Book Club Edition with Y 51 gutter code. Not the Fireside Book Club – this is the rare BOMC edition that retains the City Lights imprints and the statement “City Lights Books are edited by Lawrence Ferlinghetti…”

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean,bright boards, strong title ink on the straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, strong spine ends, mild edge wear, and two bumped corners. No marks or inscriptions inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with price intact, mild surface, a 1/2″ damp stain on the spine and moderate edge wear, and looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Fool for Love focuses on May and Eddie, former lovers who have met again in a motel in the desert. The play premiered in 1983 at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco, where Shepard was the playwright-in-residence.

Ships promptly in a manila envelope with book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
