For sale: a rare first edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Enchanter by Vladimir Nabokov. First Edition stated, 1986 G. P. Putnam’s. First Printing with full number line , 1-10.

The book is in Near Fine condition with bright boards with a few spots, strong title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, no spine tilt, strong spine ends, mild edge wear, and two heavily rounded corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with no marks, inscriptions, or any other signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with moderate to heavy surface wear, mild edge wear, and the price intact on the front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

The Enchanter is the Ur-Lolita, the precursor to Nabokov’s classic novel. At once hilarious and chilling, it tells the story of an outwardly respectable man and his fatal obsession with certain pubescent girls, whose coltish grace and subconscious coquetry reveal, to his mind, a special bud on the verge of bloom.
