For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first hardcover edition, first printing of Ellis Island by Mark Helprin. First edition unstated, 1981 Delacorte Press. First Printing stated.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean boards, tight binding, strong title on a straight spine, mild spine tilt, clean page blocks, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with an erased price on the half title page. No other marks, inscriptions, or signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.  

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with mild surface wear, heavy edge wear, chips and tears. First state jacket with the $10.95 price on the front flap, and the 0181 date code on the rear flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

A novella and ten stories cover an extensive geographical range, from the German Alps to the Indian Ocean, the title novella pertaining to an immigrant whose over-active imagination gets him in and out of trouble
