For sale: a rare and exceptional first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Eight Famous Plays by August Strindberg with no dust jacket. First US Edition unstated, 1949 Scribner’s. Fourth Printing with two reprints listed.
The book is in Very Good condition with bright boards with light spots, a few scuff marks and the front boards still has a pattern present and a bit of sheen. The binding is starting to loosen, but is still free of of any seam cracks. Also with a straight spine, lightly foxed page blocks, mild spine tilt, lightly rubbed spine ends, moderate edge wear and rounded corners.
The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with heavy foxing on the first and last end papers. No other marks, inscriptions or signs of ownership . The end papers and title pages are heavily foxed and the interior pages are clean, strong, supple and lightly toned.
