For sale: a Rare and Exceptional newer printing Oxford Illustrated Edition of Dombey and Son by Charles Dickens. Oxford University Press, 1989. First Printing with no subsequent printing. With the original illustrations.

The book is in Near Fine condition with bright boards with scuff marks, strong title gilt on a concave spine, clean page blocks, binding starting to pull away at the top, no spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions or signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild surface and edge wear, and no price on the front flap, as issued.

Mr. Dombey’s idealistic vision of his “Dombey and Son” shipping firm rests on the shoulders of his delicate son Paul. However, when the firm faces ruin, and Dombey’s second marriage ends in disaster, it is his devoted daughter Florence, unloved and neglected, who comes to his aid.
