Description

For sale is a  Very Good  first edition, early printing of “Notes Towards the Definition of Culture ” by T. S. Eliot, complete with a Near Fine dust jacket wrapped in a new archival wrap. First Edition unstated, 1949 Harcourt Brace. Seventh printing with a GHIJ letter  line.

The exterior of the hardcover edition is in VG+ condition, with clean, lightly faded , black boards, strong title gilt, clean page blocks, a tight binding with no creases, mild spine tilt, lightly rubbed spine ends, no edge wear and strong  corners.

The interior of the book is Near Fine, with no marks, inscriptions, or any other signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The dust jacket is also in VG- condition, with mild surface wear and heavy edge wear, with chips and small gaps. The jacket is price-clipped and looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Notes Towards the Definition of Culture by T. S. Eliot presents culture as an organic, shared system of beliefs that cannot be planned or artificially induced.
