For sale: a Rare and Exceptional first hardcover edition, first printing of The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson by Emily Dickinson. First Edition published, July 1924 Little Brown. First Printing with 1924 on both title and copyright pages.
Very Good hardcover with clean, cloth boards with the fabric pattern still present, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear and rubbed corners. Gilt letters still strong on the front title/graphic. Gilt from the sunned spine are all gone, but the letters are still imprinted. Top gilt very strong, but with spots and soiling. The front hinge is totally split and being held together with document tape, but the binding is still strong. Previous owner’s name only on the first free end paper. No other marks or inscriptions. Inside pages clean and lightly toned.

Very rare, very early collection of The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson with an Introduction by her niece Martha Dickinson Bianchi. The first 1924 printing by Little, Brown, and Company of Boston, Massachusetts consists of only 2,000 copies. The volume has green diagonal-rib-grain cloth, with gold stamping on front and spine, no decoration on back and a top gilt. It also includes a sepia tone portrait of the poet. A second printing was released in 1926, followed by a third printing in 1929. Both of these retained the same copyright page, but included the later date on the title page. The collection includes 593 of Dickinson’s poems, grouped in five units: Part Life Part Nature Part Love Part Time and Eternity Part The Single Hound.
