For sale is a rare and exceptional circa 1954 Edition of The Clue in the Diary [Original Edition] (Nancy Drew Mystery #7) by Carolyn Keene, in a Fair-Good dust jacket protected in an archival wrap. First [Original] Edition unstated, 1932 Grosset and Dunlap on copyright page. 1954 Printing with The Scarlet Slipper Mystery as the last published title listed on the front flap and the Digger endpapers.
The hardcover book is in Very Good condition with clean, bright boards with a strong sheen and cloth pattern. The title ink is strong on the front board and the square spine. Also with clean, lightly toned page blocks, tight binding, moderate to heavy spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, moderate edge wear and rubbed and lightly rounded corners with no bare spots. The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with the ghost of an erased price on the second free end paper. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The illustrated “Digger” end papers featuring Nancy Drew overlooking a back yard digger and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
Fair-Good price-clipped dust jacket with strong color, mild surface wear, heavy edge wear, and chips and gaps on the spine ends. There is also a 3/4″ triangular gap on the front. Looks good in a new Brodart archival wrap.
The Clue in the Diary is the seventh volume in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series, and was first published in 1932 under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. Its text was revised in 1962.
