The book is a Little Brown First Edition unstated, with the publisher’s name only on the title page, the author’s 1951 copyright on the copyright page and no subsequent dates. The later printing is detailed in a number line.
The exterior of this hardcover edition is in excellent condition. The black boards have a few spots, the title gilt is strong, and the page blocks are clean. The binding is tight with a mild spine tilt, while the spine ends are lightly rolled. There is mild edge wear and lightly rubbed corners, but overall, this copy has been well preserved. Inside the book, is a bookplate from the previous owner on the front paste down and mostly hidden by the dust jacket flap. There are no other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership.
