For sale: a Rare and Exceptional second edition, second Wartime printing hardcover copy of The Castle by Franz Kafka in a archival wrap. Second Edition stated, January 3, 1941. Reprinted October 1943 is also stated on copyright page. Wartime Printing with Buy Bonds imprint on rear flap of dust jacket and “Full Compliance” statement on copyright page..

The book is in Very Good condition with clean, boards with mild fading and strong ink on the front cover castle graphic. Also with lightly faded title ink on a straight spine, clean page blocks, tight binding, heavy spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and rubbed corners. The interior of the book is also in Very Good condition with the owner’s name, date and city inked on the first free end paper along with an erased price. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Poor condition with heavy toning, heavy edge wear, a 1″ gap on both spine ends, and  the price is on the front flap. Looks good in a Brodart archival wrap.
