The illustrated end papers and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild surface wear, heavy edge wear, a few chips and the UK price iin pounds on the front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap. This is the rare illustrated cover.
T. H. White’s A Book of Beasts was the first and, for a time, the only English translation of a medieval bestiary. Bestiaries were second only to the Bible in their popularity and wide distribution during the Middle Ages. They were catalogs of animal stories, combining zoological information, myths, and legends. Great attention was given to bizarre, exotic, and monstrous creatures.
