For sale: a Rare and Exceptional Book Club Edition, first printing paperback copy of 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke in a new archival wrap. Presumed first printing with no BCE statements and a 1J gutter code indicating a January 1968 printing. This issue is the same size and design as the true First Edition.
The exterior of the book is in Very Good+ condition with clean, bright boards and no Book Club dimple on the rear board. Also, strong title ink on a straight spine, lightly foxed page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and heavily rounded corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price on the half-title page. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright, making this an excellent addition to any collection.
The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with moderate surface wear, heavy edge wear, chips and small gaps, and two 1″ tears repaired with acid-free tape. There is a Book Club Edition statement and no price on the front flap and no ISBN on the back. Otherwise same text and design as the first edition. Looks
