For sale: a rare and exceptional First US Edition hardcover copy of  Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell in the jacket protected in a new archival wrap. First American Edition stated, 1949 Harcourt Brace.  First Printing with no subsequent printing on the copyright page.

The book is in Near Fine condition with bright boards with a few spots on the back, strong title ink on a sunned spine and stronger on the front board. Also with, damp stains on the side page block, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and two lightly bumped corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the ghost of an erased price and some age spots on the first free end paper.  No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The rear end paper and the interior pages are clean and lightly toned, making it an excellent addition to any collection.

The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with mild surface wear and heavy edge and seam wear. First state jacket with the $3.00 price on the front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.
