Description
For sale: a Rare and Exceptional Book Club edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Shining by Stephen King in a new archival wrap. Book Club
The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, black boards with a surprisingly, strong sheen. Also present is a strong title gilt on a straight spine, heavy foxing on the top page block, tight binding, no spine tilt, rolled and lightly rubbed spine ends, moderate edge wear, and two lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is in Near Fine condition with the address of the previous owner on the rear paste down, nicely hidden beneath the rear flap. The phone number also is written discreetly under the front flap. No other marks, inscriptions or other signs of ownership inside. The interior pages are very clean and bright, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
The dust jacket is in Fair to Good condition with a 1″ missing gap on the bottom edge of the front. Also with moderate surface wear, a lightly sunned spine and heavy edge wear and several tears repaired with acid-free tape. Book Club Edition stated on front flap and 1169 code on rear flap. Looks attractive in a new Brodart archival wrap. No repair made on the large gap mentioned earlier, which is better disguised by the white paper backing of the archival wrap.
Jack Torrance’s new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he’ll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote . . . and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.
Ships promptly in a corrugated mailer with book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap.
