For sale: a rare first edition, second printing hardcover copy of Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck with no dust jacket. First  Edition unstated, 1937 Covici Friede. Second Issue with “loosely” on page 9, and no subsequent printings listed. 

The book is in Very Good condition with clean and bright boards, a very strong title/graphic on the front and on the slightly sunned spine. The corners, edges and spine ends are just slightly worn. The binding is very tight, but there is a significant spine tilt. The spine ends are rolled, but not frayed. All three page blocks are clean. The previous owner’s name is on the first free end paper and the rear end paper has a glue stain from the binding. No other marks or inscriptions, but the end papers are lightly foxed. The inside pages are perfectly clean – and very lightly toned.

Of Mice and Men is a novella written by John Steinbeck. Published in 1937, it narrates the experiences of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers, who move from place to place in California in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in the United States.
