Description

Looking for a classic piece of musical history? Look no further than this Very Good first edition, tenth printing hardcover copy of “West Side Story” by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. This book comes with a Good first state dust jacket wrapped in a new archival wrap, ensuring its preservation for years to come.

Evidence of being a first edition is unstated, Random House, and the year of publication, 1957 on the copyright page with no later date. Tenth Printing, June 1966 is stated on the copyright page.

The hardcover edition is in Very Good condition, with clean, lightly faded boards and strong title gilt on the spine. The text blocks are lightly foxed, but the binding is tight with no creases. There is a mild spine tilt, lightly rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and rubbed corners.

The previous owner’s name is written on both front and rear end papers, and a resale price is stamped on the lightly foxed front. However, there are no other marks or inscriptions inside. The interior pages are clean and lightly toned.

The Good dust jacket has foxed and lightly rubbed surfaces and heavy edge wear, chips, gaps, and tears. The jacket is a first issue state with the $3.95 price intact and 3/58 date on the front flap. The front cover photo is clean and unmarked. Despite the flaws, the dust jacket appears quite attractive in the new Brodart archival wrap.

“West Side Story” is a timeless classic, combining the talents of Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim to create a landmark piece of musical theater. This book features the full libretto, as well as photographs  from the original Broadway production.

Critics have hailed “West Side Story” as one of the greatest musicals of all time, and this book is a must-have for any fan of the genre. Despite its flaws, this copy is still in Very Good condition, and the story remains as captivating as ever. Don’t miss your chance to own this piece of musical history.

Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap. Ships promptly in corrugated mailer with book wrapped in both craft paper and multiple layers of bubble wrap. No the Book Club Edition. Very Rare!
