For sale: a Rare and Exceptional Second hardcover US Edition of The Captain’s Doll by D. H. Lawrence in a very rare dust jacket. Uniform Edition stated 1930, Albert and Charles Boni, New York.
The book is in Near Fine condition with lightly faded blue-gray cloth-covered boards, and front title in faded gilt and sheen still present. Spine is faded and missing the gilt, but the title/author and publisher are still legible up close. Covers clean and the spine ends are worn and rounded. Binding is tight and straight and no cracks on either end paper. Previous owner’s bookplate on the front paste down and an erased price on the first free end paper. No other marks or inscriptions. Pages are lightly toned and clean throughout.
The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with the $2.50 price on the front flap, mild surface wear, heavy edge wear and a tear. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.
