For sale: a Rare and Exceptional First hardcover US Edition of Women in Love by D. H. Lawrence with no dust jacket. First Edition unstated, October 1922, Thomas Seltzer, New York, 1922. Third printing, December 1922 stated.
The book is in Very Good condition with lightly faded blue-gray cloth-covered boards with marks, and front title in faded gilt and sheen still present. Spine is darkened from sun and missing the gilt, but the title/author and publisher are still legible up close. Covers rubbed and the spine ends are heavily chipped, worn and rounded. Binding is tight and straight and no cracks on either end paper. Previous owner’s stamped name on the front paste down and much larger on the top page block. The name is handwritten and dated on the first free end paper. No other marks or inscriptions. Pages are lightly toned and clean throughout.
